We are proud to announce the completion of our latest Hybridgrass installation at Atlético de Madrid’s stadium, Estadio Civitas Metropolitano. This UEFA Elite Stadium, is designed to host LaLiga and UEFA Champions League matches, reinforcing its status as one of the premier football venues in Europe.
The project began with the installation of HATKO Hybridgrass carpets at a specialized sod farm. There, the system was developed into dense, high-performance sods, which were carefully nurtured before being harvested. Once ready, the sods were transported to the stadium and installed. Thanks to the efficiency of the process, the stadium was able to host its first match just two weeks after installation.
The playing surface spans 105 meters by 68 meters and was designed to provide optimal performance and durability. With a seating capacity of 70,460 spectators, Atlético de Madrid’s home stadium is now ready to support a packed football calendar, offering 90 hours of annual playing time. The rapid installation and high-quality surface exemplify HATKO’s ability to deliver world-class pitches that meet the demands of elite venues.
The project was completed at the beginning of August just in time for the new season, with the first match played on just two weeks after installation.
